While ticking many tasks on the to-do list, cooking breakfast seems like a headache.

More than any other part of the day, you have to crunch several tasks into a small window within a couple of hours of getting up. The idea to skip breakfast is often the one that many people opt for, but they should not. It is the most important meal of the day, and it can be prepared in under 10 minutes. You have to update your cooking journal with the dishes shared below to streamline your morning routine and never leave your house with an empty stomach.

Peanut Butter & Banana Toast

Having a peanut butter jar in your refrigerator is a blessing that you are not utilising to its full potential. Take a bread slice and slather it with a spoonful of peanut butter. Layer it with thin banana slices, soaked chia seeds, and a pinch of cinnamon powder. This sandwich is rich in potassium and protein to give you a much-needed energy boost. Not to mention the healthy fats and the ease of making. It will take you less than 5 minutes to make, but it will be gone in a minute.

Vegetable Upma

If you eliminate the preparation time, making upma is really a 10-minute job. Keep all your vegetables chopped and ready to use in the refrigerator to minimise the hassle every morning. Heat oil and saute mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped ginger, and green chillies. Add onions, carrots, tomatoes, peas, and French beans. After cooking vegetables on high heat, sprinkle salt, pour water, and add rava. Cook the ingredients for another 5 minutes with a lid on. This fibre-rich dish is perfect for people on a diet.

Smoothie Bowl

If you have 10 minutes to prepare breakfast and eat it, go for a smoothie bowl – blitz berries, bananas, and other fruits with yoghurt and honey. Pour the blend into a large bowl, and top it with fresh fruits and toasted nuts and seeds. Packed with nutrients and protein, this is all you need in the morning to kickstart the day on a high and refreshing note. Depending on the season, you can pick and add fresh produce to make the bowl comforting and delicious.

Banana Pancakes

Did someone say pancakes? It is the easiest breakfast you can whip up, especially if you live with children. Mash a ripe banana with an egg and flour. Add milk to adjust the consistency of the batter and make soft and spongy pancakes. After stacking the discs over each other, pour honey or maple syrup, top it with some fresh fruits, and a scoop or two of ice cream.

Moong Dal Chilla

Soak moong dal overnight to sort breakfast the next day. Blend it smooth with salt, ginger, garlic (optional), and green chillies. Spread this batter on a hot griddle. As it starts solidifying, top it with onions, tomatoes, grated paneer, coriander leaves, and a sprinkle of red chilli powder. When the base turns crispy, fold the chilla and enjoy it with ketchup. Don’t forget a cup of cold coffee or fresh juice on the side.

Masala Oats

Masala oats are like noodles but healthier. They can be prepared quickly and fulfil your body’s need for fibre. Saute onions, peas, corn, tomatoes, and green chillies in a saucepan. Add a pinch of turmeric, salt, and pepper. Once veggies soften, add rolled oats, seasoning, and water. Cook it for 5 minutes on a low flame and enjoy a tantalising breakfast that will keep you full until the next meal.

Masala Scrambled Eggs

When in doubt, reach for eggs. They are the safest choice for breakfast or snacks. Heat a pan with butter in it. Meanwhile, whisk eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Saute onion and green chillies in butter before pouring eggs into the pan. When eggs start solidifying, stir the mix with a spatula to break it into smaller chunks. Cook the scrambled eggs until the surface starts turning golden brown. Switch off the flame and top it with coriander leaves and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning. It can be enjoyed with toasted bread.

Masala Omelette

Masala omelette is a wholesome breakfast recipe that can be prepared in a jiffy. Take a bowl, and whisk two eggs along with chopped onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves, chopped green chillies, salt, and pepper. Melt butter in a pan, and pour the mixture into it. You can also top it off with oregano or peri peri masala to infuse it with Italian flavours. Once the base is done, flip the omelette and cook the other side. Layer it between bread slices or on the side of a hot cup of coffee.

Fried Idli

If you know you will not have time to cook breakfast in the morning, make idli the night before. You can even purchase idli-dosa blends from the market and cook at least 12-16 idlis. Refrigerate them overnight and cut them into triangles in the morning. Saute them with mustard seeds, slit green chillies, sliced onions, red chilli powder, half a teaspoon of sugar, and a pinch of turmeric powder. They go well with coconut chutney, chilli garlic sauce, and ketchup.

Besan Chilla

For a quick breakfast, mix besan with water, cumin powder, salt, and turmeric powder. Prepare a smooth batter and spread it on a hot griddle. Add butter or ghee on the edges, and let the chilla cook. Top it with chopped onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves, a pinch of pepper, and salt. You can relish it with a smoothie, milkshake, or fresh juice on the side.
