Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Even after knowing the nutritional significance of the day’s first meal, many people skip breakfast to reach their workplace early or carry on with their chores. However, with a full tummy, you’ll be able to perform more efficiently throughout the day. So, if you are looking for breakfast recipes, you’re at the right place.

Right from the global favourite pancakes that can be whipped up in under fifteen minutes to a heavier option like aloo poori to the traditional Indian breakfast, i.e. parathas, here are some ways to make the first meal of your day interesting. Depending on the time you can spare to prepare your meal, read on to get some lip-smacking breakfast ideas.

 

Pancakes

Taking inspiration from your favourite Hollywood TV show or movie, making pancakes for a typical breakfast in bed must be on your to-do list. And the best part about pancakes is that they can be quickly whipped up without spending too much time in the kitchen. To make them at home, you can either get a pancake premix or take all-purpose flour, eggs, sugar, and milk to make a smooth batter. Once you get a smooth batter, heat a non-stick pan and pour a spoonful of batter. Once the bottom layer is cooked, toss it around, and let the pancake turn golden brown. You can add some honey, maple syrup, or even chocolate sauce and enjoy your pancakes.

 

Sandwich

Another go-to breakfast option is a hearty sandwich. Whether you want to incorporate some leftovers from the previous day or need a quick fix before a hectic day, you can quickly prepare a filling and make a sandwich. All you need to do is get a load of bread, precut salad, meat toppings, and your favourite sauces. Next, spread your favourite sauces, such as barbecue sauce, mayonnaise, mustard sauce, chilli sauce, etc, and add the leftover salad. Now, just for the sandwich maker to do its magic and pair it with a cup of coffee

 

Aloo Poori

If you are looking for an elaborate breakfast or brunch option, the traditional aloo poori will be the perfect fit. For the aloo sabzi, start by taking a tomato and onion puree, chopped potatoes, green chillies, and spices like salt, pepper, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, etc. Adjust the consistency by adding some water and let it cook in a pressure cooker. Simultaneously, deep fry the kneaded flour in a round shape to make poori. Pour the gravy into a bowl and arrange the pooris on a plate, and your classic breakfast is ready to be served.

Stuffed Bread Roll

Stuffed bread roll is another savoury breakfast option that lets you add your favourite veggies and customise the stuffing as per your liking. You can start by boiling some potatoes and mixing it with chopped veggies like onions, tomatoes, green chillies, carrots, paneer cubes, and so on. Next, you can place a spoonful of the filling in the centre of a bread piece. To make the bread roll cheesier, you can add a cheese cube to the filling and roll the ends of the bread piece. Seal the ends with a little oil and deep fry or air fry as per your preference.

Upma

To add a South Indian touch to your breakfast spread, you can make a classic serving of upma. Being a versatile dish, you can make it with sooji, semolina, and even leftover idlis. All you need to do is heat a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped onion, peas, and assorted vegetables. Next, mix in the spices like turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Finally, add sooji, semolina, or crushed idlis as per your preference, garnish with coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon, and dig in.

 

Bread Pakora

Be it in the streets of the national capital, Delhi or across Punjab, bread pakora is an all-time favourite snack or breakfast option that you must make. And the best part about bread pakoras is that they can be enjoyed in different variations. For example, you can add a potato or paneer filling between two slices before deep frying or air frying the bread pakora. Once the bread pakora is crispy, you can get rid of the excess oil with the help of paper towels and then enjoy with a spicy green chutney.

 

Dosa

For another South Indian breakfast option, you can make dosa with sambar. If you don’t want to eat something fried but need something healthier, a plate of fermented rice and lentil-based dosa with a nutritious bowl of sambar will be just perfect for you. With a filling of mixed sauteed vegetable filling, you can make thin and crispy dosas with sambar made with lentils and mixed vegetables. You can enjoy the combo with nariyal ki chutney and have a healthy breakfast, giving your day a powerful kickstart.

Paratha

Last but not least, the final breakfast option is the Punjabi staple – paratha. No matter which part of the country or even world you’re in, a serving of your plate filled with your favourite paratha will be a great way to start the day. Depending on the filling preference, you can choose a vegetable, knead a wheat-based dough. Once the dough is ready, let it rest for about fifteen minutes. Then, take small portions from the dough and roll them into circles. Finally, heat a tawa, drizzle some oil or ghee and cook the paratha on both sides till golden brown. You can then transfer the paratha to a plate and pair it with a bowl of curd and your favourite pickle.
