Puran Poli

Puran poli is a sweet flatbread stuffed with a sweet lentil filling made from skinned spilt bengal gram (chana dal) and jaggery.Puran Poli is a traditional Maharashtrian dessert.

Step 1

Wash and soak the dal for atleast 4-5 hrs.

Step 2

Add water and pressure cook it.

Step 3

Once done, drain the water from dal.

Step 4

In a kadai take dal and jaggery and cook on medium flame till it completely dries.

Step 5

Keep stirring it continuously.

Step 6

Let it cool completely, then add elaich powder, jaiphal powder and ginger powder and mix well.

Step 7

Stuffing is ready.

Step 8

For dough: Take maida, wheat flour, salt and oil and mix well.

Step 9

Then add water and make a soft dough.

Step 10

The dough should be softer then the chapati dough.

Step 11

Keep it covered for 15 mins.

Step 12

Take a small ball of dough and flatten it slightly and keep a ball of stuffing at the centre and close it nicely and pat it slightly.

Step 13

Dust with dry flour and roll into thin chapati and cook on medium flame without any oil or ghee.

Step 14

Once cooked from both sides apply ghee and serve with hot milk.
