#Holi26 Mathri, for those who aren’t aware refers to deep fried crunchy and crispy snacks. These are made in India during the festive season, mathri is especially common in North India. If you go to Delhi during this time of the year, you will see the sweet shops loaded with different types of mathri. They can be both savory and sweet however the savory mathris are more popular. Today I am sharing with you the recipe for one of my all time favorite snack – Mint Mathri.

prep time 10 Mins
cook time 30 Mins
chef Daxa Parmar
Step 1

First, in a bowl, add all-purpose flour, rava, crushed black pepper powder, cumin seeds, carom seeds (hand-mashed), salt, chopped mint leaves and hot ghee and mix well. Add a little water and knead the dough like a soft puri and keep it covered for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Then weave a large loaf out of the dough and cut long strips with a knife or pizza cutter.

Step 3

Then take 3 or 4 cut strips, press both ends and bend in opposite directions from both sides. Then bring one end in a circular motion to the other end and press both ends. So that the ends of the matri do not fall off while deep frying.

Step 4

Make all the matris in the same way.

Step 5

Now heat oil in a pan, add 4 to 5 nuts of Mathari and fry till golden on both sides on medium flame of gas.

Step 6

Now our very crispy and flavour full Laccha Mint Mathri is ready to serve… This Mathri can be served with tea, coffee or tomato sauce.
