#SLC Khara Pongal is a rice lentil dish that is often prepared in south Indian homes during Sankranti.

Step 1

Wash yellow moong dal and rice thoroughly.

Step 2

Take a pressure cooker add water, turmeric powder, salt and 1 tsp ghee. Let it boil and now put the lid of the cooker. Pressure cook on medium flame just for 1 whistle.

Step 3

Let the cooker depressurize naturally and check out the consistency. If it is dry add hot water and keep it on low flame.

Step 4

Take a small pan add ghee, jeera, pepper corns and cashew nuts. Fry it on medium flame. Now add the grated ginger, green chilies, coconut chunks, curry leaves and coriander leaves.

Step 5

Pour the tadka and turn off the flame of the cooker. Mix it well.

Step 6

Cover the lid of the cooker for 2-3 mins.

Step 7

Khara Pongal is ready to be served.
