Prepare the garlic butter* – In a small bowl combine the softened butter, minced garlic, salt, oregano, chilli flakes and chopped coriander. Mix until smooth. *Spread* – Evenly spread the garlic butter on each slice of bread (or on the cut side of the baguette). If you like a cheesy top, sprinkle the grated cheese over the buttered side.
Toast* – Place the slices on a pre‑heated oven tray or a hot skillet. If using an oven, set it to 200 °C (about 390 °F) and bake for 6‑8 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese (if added) is melted and bubbly. In a skillet, toast on medium heat for 2‑3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula. Remove from heat, let cool for a minute, then cut into bite‑size pieces or serve the baguette slices whole.
