Butterfly Pea Flower-Samak Rice Momos

#cnv26 – A beautiful and delicious twist on the traditional dumpling is the Butterflypeaflower-SamakRiceMomos for vrat food . This one is very easy and perfect momos recipe ,prepared with samak rice , soaked in butterflypea water for that blue color and shaped like balls with potato stuffing for fasting feast .

Step 1

Soak butter fly blue pea flowers in water to get the bright blue colour..Drain water .

Step 2

Wash the samak rice and soak it with drained blue water for atleast 6hours for blue colour .

Step 3

Drain rice and keep aside.

Step 4

Now for the stuffing: Heat a kadhai put ghee, when hot add, cumin seeds and black mustard seeds.

Step 5

After they splutter, add the chopped ginger and curry leaves and coriander .Sauté for a minute.

Step 6

Add grated boiled mashed potatoes, 2 tbsps. Peanut powder, senda salt ,red chilli powder and black pepper powder and mix again.

Step 7

Mix well and turn off the gas. Keep the mixture aside. Make balls from potatoes.

Step 8

Now coat balls with blue rice properly and give small round shape with your greased palm.

Step 9

Similarly make the remaining rice Momos with remaining potato mixture and blue samak rice.

Step 10

Then steam all balls for 10 -12 minutes.

Step 11

When steamed, top with remaining Peanut powder .

Step 12

Make tempering with ingredients, and top each ball with tempering as garnish.

Step 13

Serve with chutney of your choice. Enjoy these tasty Butterflypeaflower-SamakRiceMomos on a fasting day.
