Step 1
Lightly fry the semolina in a pan on low flame (make sure it does not change its color) and keep it aside. Now heat oil and 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan and add cashew nuts and fry till it turns pink. Keep it aside.
Step 2
Now crackle the mustard seeds in it, then add curry leaves, chana dal, urad dal and fry till it turns pink. Now add peanuts and fry till it turns pink.
Step 3
Now add ginger and green chillies and fry for a while. Now add chopped vegetables including onion one by one and cook on low flame. Add peas and fry on low flame. Now add tomatoes and fry.
Step 4
Now add 3 cups water, salt, turmeric powder, vangi bhaat masala, 1 teaspoon ghee in the pan and let the water boil. Now mix the semolina while stirring continuously with a spoon and cook on low flame till it dries. Now add the remaining 1 teaspoon ghee, turn off the gas and cover and keep it for 2 to 3 minutes. Authentic Khara Bath is ready. Now serve with chutney.
