Puliyogare Or Tamarind Rice

Leftover rice can be mixed in a tempering of mustard, peanuts, curry leaves, hing, turmeric, dried red chillies and urad dal among other flavourful ingredients in a kadai. What makes this southern Indian dish stand out is soaked tamarind, which brings that quintessential tanginess into the recipe. Tamarind rice made thus can be laid out as a warm breakfast. Idli And Podi

A southern Indian delight that is particularly well-executed across Kannada and Tamil regions, idli is a fluffy and airy rice cake that tastes so comforting when lathered in ghee and podi. Over time, as southern Indian breakfast delights have become highly popular across restaurants and households alike, one recipe that seems to enjoy endless fame is the masala dosa. This is nothing but a plain ghee dosa, which holds a mashed potato sabzi inside. The famed masala dosa can be converted into a quick breakfast for children and adults both by turning it into a wrap. Make small dosas on the pan and once cooked, stuff them with potato sabzi. Spread the potatoes a little and fold the dosas like wraps. Leftover sabzi can also be repurposed as a wrap filling for breakfast. Quick and quite fuss-free, the masala dosa wraps can also work as on-the-go breakfast bites for parents packing quick lunches and setting off for work early in the morning.

Savoury Pongal

Akin to khichadi, pongal is a southern Indian rice and dal one-dish meal that can be concocted early morning as a quick breakfast before children head off to school, and parents to work.
