First, heat ghee in a pan and fry the edible gum until it puffs up; remove and set aside in a bowl.
In the same pan, roast the grated Mawa for 4 to 5 minutes until it turns light golden.
In a separate pan, combine sugar and water to make a ‘one-string consistency’ syrup. Add the roasted Mawa to this and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until well blended. Mix in the coconut and stir for another 1 to 2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and add the fried gum, almond pieces, poppy seeds, cardamom powder, and nutmeg powder; mix everything thoroughly.
Once the mixture cools down, shape it into small laddoos; garnish with saffron strands and pistachios before serving.
Store these laddoos in the refrigerator; due to the Mawa content, they will not last long if kept at room temperature.
