Step 1

In a bowl, combine the grated paneer, mango pulp, cream, cardamom powder, and honey/jaggery. Fold gently to combine.

Add the saffron-infused milk to the mixture, ensuring the golden hue and aroma are evenly distributed.

Pass the banana leaf squares quickly over a low flame; this makes them pliable and prevents them from tearing.

Step 4

Place a spoonful of the paneer-mango mixture in the center of each leaf. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Step 5

Fold the sides of the leaf inward to create a neat rectangular parcel. Secure it firmly with kitchen twine.

Step 6

Steam: Place the parcels in a steamer or a kadhai with a little water at the bottom and a rack.

Step 7

Steam on medium heat for about 10 minutes.

Step 8

Carefully unwrap the parcels to reveal the fragrant, steamed paturi. Serve warm as a decadent vrat dessert or offering.
