Manglorean Prawn Sukka

Its a semi gravy recipe, in this prawns are cooked in spices, tamarind and coconut. #LP26

Step 1

Take the prawns, clean it, marinate with salt and turmeric powder.

Step 2

For making sukka masala in a pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dry red chilies, fenugreek seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, dry roast them, keep aside, then slightly dry roast the grated coconut, let them cool. In a grinder add all dry roasted masala, grated coconut( keep 2 tsp grated coconut separately in a bowl) and tamarind and make a powder(don’t add water)

Step 3

In a pan add oil, fry the prawns and keep aside.

Step 4

Then in same oil  add musturd seeds and curry leaves, let it crackle, now add chopped onion and fry, then add ginger garlic paste and tomato and saute till tomato becomes soft.

Step 5

Now add the sukka masala and mix, add salt, kashmiri red chilli powder and mix, add prawns, add little water and cook for 2 minutes to mix everything properly, lastly add remaining grated coconut and mix. It will be a semi dry gravy, serve with roti or rice.
