Moong Dal Halwa

Step 1

Soak Dal for 5-6 hours and dry it.

Step 2

Grind to smooth paste or can be kept little coarse.

Step 3

soak saffron strands in 2-3 tbsp milk and keep aside.

Step 4

Add 1 tbsp ghee in moderately heated pan , roast cashews + melon seeds to golden brown and keep aside.

Step 5

In same pan , add ghee, then gradually add Moong Dal and keep stirring. At first it will be lumpy.

Step 6

Gradually lumps will break by continuously stirring under low flame.

Step 7

Roast till you get the nutty aroma , then add milk + saffron milk and stir well for 4-5 minutes. Then add water + cardamom powder and stir well till water evaporates. Lastly add 2-3 tbsp ghee + sugar + dry fruits and mix well.

Step 8

Simmer for 4-5 minutes till water from sugar evaporates and ghee is seen on surface.

Step 9

Halwa is done.
