Step 1

Heat ghee in a heavy-bottom pan on low flame.

Step 2

Add whole wheat flour and roast on low-medium flame for 10–12 minutes until it turns golden brown and gives a rich nutty aroma.

Step 3

Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool for 2–3 minutes.

Step 4

Add grated jaggery and cardamom powder. Mix quickly until the jaggery melts completely with the heat of the flour.

Step 5

Immediately pour the mixture into a greased tray or plate and spread it evenly.

Step 6

Garnish with poppy seeds or chopped nuts and press them gently.

Step 7

Cut into square or diamond shapes while it is still warm.

Step 8

Allow it to cool completely before serving.
