Moongdal kheer (paruppu payasam)

This kheer is generally prepared on festival days and is quite healthy as jaggery is used.

Step 1

Pressure Cook moong dal till soft and mushy.

Step 2

Heat jaggery adding some water till it dissolves completely

Step 3

Filter to remove any impurities

Step 4

To the cooked moong dal, add the filtered jaggery. Mix well and allow it to simmer ,say about 10 minutes till the raw taste of jaggery goes away.

Step 5

Once done, add milk as per your taste.

Step 6

Finally add crushed cardamons.

Step 7

Heat ghee , roast the cashews and kishmiss and garnish the kheer.

Step 8

Serve hot.
