Have you still been eating a bowl of cereal while getting ready? You don’t have to compromise on the taste and flavour of your breakfast every day. Whether you’re running late or want to make a scrumptious sandwich, here are some options that will tempt you to wake up a little early and finish your breakfast.

Let’s face it, on most mornings, the sound of the alarm clock is so annoying that you simply want to snooze and go back to sleep. With the quick morning routine of getting ready for work, planning the day ahead, and catching up with meetings, making breakfast usually gets the least priority. However, being the first meal of the day, it is not recommended that you skip breakfast and just grab a cup of tea or coffee.

To help you get the nutrients while not taking long hours to prepare, sandwiches are the best option, and you can whip them up early in the morning. And the best part is, thanks to their versatility, you can easily incorporate your favourite sauces, ingredients, cheese, and much more into your breakfast. Plus, if you are a Friends fan, you’d know the importance of waking up to a good sandwich. While Joey Tribbiani must have introduced some meaty fillings you can add to your sandwiches, here are some more breakfast ideas that are sure to make you want to have breakfast before leaving for work.

Cucumber Sandwich

No matter if you want to whip up a sandwich to pack your kid’s tiffin or make one for yourself in between the meetings, a cucumber sandwich can be the best fix. Depending on the amount of time you can spend, you can either chop a cucumber into thin slices or grate it finely. Next, you can mix the cucumber slices with mayonnaise, some lettuce shreds, black pepper, and salt to taste. Once you have the filling ready, you can spread a generous amount on a slice of bread and grill it in a sandwich maker. In just about five minutes, your sandwich will be ready to serve.

Panini

The Italian pressed sandwich, panini, is an impeccable breakfast option that can be quickly made on busy weekdays. To make perfect panini, go for a crusty bread like sourdough. Then, you can pick from a range of fillings like turkey, ham, mozzarella cheese, grilled tomato, roasted vegetables, and so on. Finally, grill the sandwich and cut it into bite-sized pieces to make it easier to handle and serve. Pair it with a chilly sauce and a hot cup of coffee, and you’ll thank yourself for waking up a little early.

Roti Sandwich

If you have some leftover rotis and sabzi from the night before, you can whip up a roti sandwich that is not only nutritious but also super quick to prepare. Incorporating the leftovers, you can take some chapatis and spread some ghee or oil on one side. Then, flip it and add the leftover sabzi like paneer bhurji, anda bhurji, mixed vegetable, mushroom matar, jeera aloo, and the list can go on. Next, fold the roti and toast it slightly on a tawa or a sandwich maker. In about two to three minutes, you can transfer the roti sandwich to a plate and serve it with a side of spicy chutney.

Sub Sandwich

In the mornings, when you have some time on your plate, you can turn your kitchen into your favourite sandwich place. You can place a footlong piece of bread with some chopped vegetables like cucumber, onion, tomato, lettuce, olives, etc., along with a protein source. Making the morning interactive, you can have a DIY sandwich party by spreading your favourite sauces, veggies, and meat toppings and toasting it slightly. You can also add a slice of cheese to make your sub sandwich even more delicious. Just pair it with a smoothie or shake, and you can have a breakfast to remember.

Anda Bhurji Sandwich

Taking inspiration from the streets of Mumbai, you can make anda bhurji sandwich. The best part about it is that you can make this high-protein breakfast option in no time. All you need to do is crack open some eggs and whisk them till fluffy. Simultaneously, you can saute some chopped onions and green chillies with spices like cumin seeds, turmeric powder,  red chilli powder, and a little salt. Once the onion is pinkish, you can add in the whisked eggs and scramble them. In just a few minutes, the egg bhurji will be ready. You can then place a spoonful of anda bhurji on a toasted pav or bread and serve it with chopped onion rings and chutney.

Samosa Pockets

To make the most of your beloved Punjabi snack, you can make a samosa sandwich. If you have some leftover samosa, or even snacks like pakoras, vadas, and bread rolls, you can simply stuff them between two slices of bread and turn them into a lip-smacking sandwich. To make a samosa sandwich, you can spread a layer of green chutney on a bread slice, place a samosa on top of it and press it downwards with another slice of bread. If the size of the samosa is too large, you can always use half a samosa, grill it to make a crunchy sandwich and serve.

Paneer Sandwich

Whether you want to make breakfast using paneer ki bhurji or crumbled paneer, sandwiches are the perfect way to go. You can start by prepping a filling by mixing paneer with mayonnaise and chopped veggies like onions, tomatoes, carrots, capsicum, etc. Once ready, you can spread it with a slice of cheese. All that’s left to do is let a sandwich maker do its magic, and in the next five minutes, your cheesy breakfast will be ready to serve.

Avocado Toast

Avocados are all over the place, and they are totally worth the hype. Not only are they super healthy, but avocados can also be customised as per your taste. To make sure your breakfast is finger-licking and nutritious, you can make a crunchy avocado toast. Just smash an avocado and mix with some olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. You can then add some chilli flakes and cheese to add a burst of flavour. Finally, spread the avocado mixture on toasted bread and enjoy.
