Grillers are more than just kitchen apparatus used to make sandwiches. In fact, lots of delicious desi snacks can be prepared in the griller at high tea. Avoid underestimating the griller as a single-use appliance and make these low-calorie dishes for evening snacking.
Marinate small paneer squares in a mix of curd, spices and ginger-garlic paste. Brush with oil and prop in the griller. Serve these homemade paneer tikkas with a fresh mint chutney dip.
Stuff spiced mashed potatoes between two bread slices. Dip these in thin besan batter and place inside the griller. Cook till golden and crisp. Serve with ketchup.
Another potato-based delight, mini tikkis can be made with potatoes seasoned with chilli, cumin and chaat masala. Coat the little bites in oil and grill them until they brown well.
Turn to the griller to make a frankie using leftover wheat rotis. Stuff these with masala corn and lots of grated cheese, craft wraps and grill. Serve as tasty afternoon snack bites with tea.
Stuff rotis or leftover bread with freshly cooked kheema. Cut into little bite-sized squares. Butter generously and grill for about five minutes. Pair with a cheese dip while serving.
